Removal, installation and adjustment of the brake light switch sensor (Opel Astra G)

Removal

The switch sensor is attached to the foot brake pedal bracket.

1. Remove the lower section of the instrument panel trim (see Chapter On-board electrical equipment). To ensure adequate access, disconnect the air duct.

2. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the switch sensor, turn the switch and release it from the pedal assembly bracket.

Installation and adjustment

1. Before installation, completely recess the plunger of the sensor switch.

2. Install the switch sensor onto the pedal bracket and turn to lock.

3. Press the foot brake pedal and pull out the plunger until it rests against the pedal lever. Release the pedal to complete the adjustment.

4. Connect the wiring, install the air duct and the lower section of the instrument panel trim. Check the proper functioning of the sensor-switch by triggering the brake lights when the foot brake pedal is depressed.
