Comment. The operation is shown on the example of replacing a 1.6 DOHC engine sensor. On other engines, the operation is carried out similarly.
You will need a multimeter to do the job.
Execution sequence
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Disconnect the wiring harness block from the sensor.
3. We connect the multimeter in the continuity mode to the output and the sensor housing. The circuit must be closed. Otherwise, the sensor must be replaced.
Warning! When the sensor is turned out, a small amount of engine oil may spill out. After installing the sensor, check the oil level and top up if necessary.
4. Using a 24 mm wrench, turn the sensor out and remove it.
5. We connect a multimeter to the case and the output of the sensor in the continuity mode. Press the plunger through the hole in the end of the sensor. The circuit should open. Otherwise, the sensor is defective and must be replaced.
6. Install the sensor in reverse order.
