Fresh air for interior ventilation enters between the hood and the windshield and is forced into the interior by the oncoming air flow or, additionally, by the air blower through a dust filter. The air can be expelled through the non-return valves, which are located on the back of the Vectra in the side pieces.
When the heating is turned on, air flows through a heat exchanger, a small heating element through which heated engine coolant flows. When the heating is turned off, air enters the passenger compartment bypassing the heat exchanger through another channel. The heating valve, which reduces or cuts off the water supply to the heat exchanger, is not used with this model of air controlled heating.
