Replacement
1. Remove the main gear and clamp it in a vise.
2. Measure the pinion bearing preload. To do this, put a wrench on the drive gear nut and measure the torque at which the drive gear starts to move. It should be approximately equal to 90-120 Nm.
3. Mark the position of the drive flange mounting nut and loosen it by counting the number of turns. Remove the flange.
4. Replace the gland, reinstall the flange and tighten the retaining nut to the calculated number of turns.
5. Adjust the pinion bearing preload by tightening the flange mounting nut.
6. Install the main gear in place.
