Place the shift lever in the neutral position and remove the console, if equipped.
Unscrew the clamp bolt on the gearshift linkage and remove the adjusting hole plug.
Turn the shift rod to the left, looking in the direction of travel of the vehicle, so that a 5 mm drill bit can be inserted into the adjustment hole as far as it will go.
At the same time, lift the protective cover and place the gearshift lever in the neutral position in the shift plane of I-II gears. The thrust bushing of the gear lever must be in contact with the lever housing without play. The center rib of the body must be against the rib of the thrust bushing.
While holding the parts in this position, tighten the clamp bolt on the gearshift linkage, remove the drill bit from the adjustment hole and close the hole with a new plug.
Replace the console, if provided.
