The clutch is used to disconnect the gearbox or engine and connect it to the engine when shifting gears, as well as for smooth starting. The clutch consists of a clutch basket with a pressure plate and a clutch driven plate, which are connected to the engine flywheel.
In the gearbox housing, a rotating sleeve is installed on the drive shaft, with a maintenance-free release bearing. Outside the gearbox housing, on the release shaft, there is a lever on which the clutch cable is fixed.
Job
In the on state, thanks to the diaphragm springs, the clutch disc is pressed against the flywheel by the pressure plate so that the force is transmitted from the engine crankshaft to the gearbox input shaft. The release bearing is free. When you press the clutch pedal, through the clutch cable and the release shaft, the release bearing, overcoming the resistance of the diaphragm springs, sets in motion and presses the pressure plate. The clutch disc, between the pressure plate and the flywheel, is released and the gearbox is disconnected from the engine.
