Checking and adjusting the air (starting) damper clearance (Opel Kadett D)

If the carburetor cover is replaced or the engine responds poorly to gas supply, it is necessary to adjust the air damper clearance. In this case, the engine must be warmed up.

Remove the air filter.

Remove the air filter.


Using the air flap rod, close it to the stop -A-.

Start a warm engine (oil temperature should be at least 60°C).

Check the clearance using a drill of the appropriate diameter -Y-. The specified air flap clearance value see paragraph 4.47.

If the gap is not correct, adjust with screw -B- on the vacuum opening device.

Install the air filter.
