If the engine does not start and the starter does not rotate.
- Make sure the battery poles are clean and the terminals are secure.
- Turn on the headlights and try to start the engine. If the headlights are very dim when starting the engine, the most likely cause of the failure to start the engine is a dead battery. Start the engine from another vehicle's battery (see below).
If the engine does not start with a normally working starter.
- Check if there is fuel in the tank.
- Check for moisture on parts and electrical equipment of the engine.
Switch off the ignition and wipe the moisture accumulation areas with a dry cloth. Apply a water repellent spray (WD-40 or equivalent) to the connectors of the fuel system and the ignition system (see photo). Check the ignition coil low voltage connector and high voltage wires especially carefully.
- A. Check the connection of the wires on the battery.
- B. Check the harness connection in the left side of the engine compartment.
- C. Check the connection of the high voltage wires on the ignition coil (1.6 l).
- D. Check the wire connection on the air flow meter (1.8 l).
- E. Remove the engine cover and check the wire connections on the ignition coils (1.8 l).
Check wire connections for tightness, apply water repellent spray WD40 if necessary.
