Anti-lock braking system and TC-system of sensor control of adhesion of front drive wheels with the road surface — general information (Opel Astra G)

The ABS system consists of a control unit, a block of electromagnetic valves, an electric pump for pumping brake fluid, and speed sensors. The control unit ensures the operation of the valves in response to signals coming from the wheel sensors.

If the wheel speed drops below a certain limit, the booster pump is automatically turned on, which returns the fluid to the main brake cylinder, reducing the pressure in the wheel cylinder. When the wheel speed increases, the pump is turned off and the valve opens, releasing fluid to the wheel cylinder. When the ABS system is operating, pulsations can be felt on the brake pedal. On vehicles equipped with a TS-system of braking the drive wheels, an additional block of valves is provided, which activate the brakes at speeds up to 60 km / h. When the drive wheel slips (in case of loss of traction) the front brakes are automatically activated.

Diagnostics and repair of systems are performed exclusively in the OPEL car service. It is allowed to change some units and assemblies of the systems independently.
