Installing engine crankcase protection (Opel Zafira A)

Considering the design features of the car and Russian operating conditions, we recommend installing engine crankcase protection if this has not been done previously.

Depending on the design, the protection may differ slightly in appearance and method of attachment.

To carry out the work, you will need an inspection pit or overpass.

It is more convenient to do the work with an assistant.

Sequence of execution

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

Recommendation: Before tightening the crankcase protection mounting bolts, lubricate them with heat-resistant grease.

2. Raise the crankcase guard and press it to the bottom of the engine compartment. Keep it in this position (if necessary, please ask for an assistant) we tighten one of the rear bolts securing the crankcase guard to the subframe by a few turns and...

...one of the front bolts securing the crankcase guard to the towing eyes (diagonally with the rear mounting bolt baited). After this, the crankcase protection can no longer be supported.



3. Tighten the remaining two bolts a few turns (front and back) crankcase protection fastenings.

4. Finally tighten the four crankcase guard mounting bolts.
