When disassembling a 5-speed gearbox, to remove the primary shaft and secondary shaft with the reverse gear, the rod and the 1st-2nd gear shift fork from the intermediate gearbox housing, use pliers to squeeze and hold the primary shaft retaining ring in this position (see photo), while simultaneously unscrewing the 5th gear shift fork bracket mounting bolts.

When disassembling the secondary shaft:
- remove the retaining ring and press off the ball bearing, spacer sleeve, thrust needle bearing and 1st gear;
- remove the needle bearing of the 1st gear;
- remove the 1st gear synchronizer locking ring;
- remove the 1st and 2nd gear synchronizer retaining ring and press off the 1st and 2nd gear synchronizer and 2nd gear pinion;
- remove the retaining ring and two thrust half rings;
- remove the 3rd gear pinion, the 3rd gear synchronizer locking ring and the needle bearing;
- remove the 3rd and 4th gear synchronizer retaining ring and press off the 3rd and 4th gear synchronizer and the 4th gear pinion;
- remove the needle bearing, retaining ring and two thrust half rings and roller bearing.
