Loosen the distributor retaining bolt.
Connect a test lamp with one wire to the low voltage terminal of the breaker, and with the other wire to «mass».
Turn the engine crankshaft so that the mark on the crankshaft pulley aligns with the mark on the camshaft drive cover.
Turn on the ignition.
Turn the ignition distributor housing counterclockwise until the control pump lights up and tighten the distributor retaining plate screw.
Setting the ignition timing with a stroboscope on a running engine
Loosen the distributor retaining bolt.
Connect the stroboscope according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Disconnect the vacuum hose from the ignition distributor.
Run the engine at idle and point the flashing strobe light at the crankshaft pulley.
Turn the ignition distributor housing so. so that the mark on the crankshaft pulley is set against the mark on the camshaft drive cover.
Tighten the ignition distributor retaining plate bolt and check the ignition setting again. Connect the vacuum hose to the distributor.
