Replacing steering gear sealing rings (Opel Kadett E)

Replacing the steering gear sealing rings is performed without removing it from the vehicle.

Unscrew the bolts securing the brake booster to the front shield and move it to the side.

Unscrew the high-pressure crude line and drain line fittings from the steering gear housing and disconnect the lines from the steering gear housing.

Install new sealing rings on all fittings. The pipes must not touch the protective covers of the rack (bending of pipelines is prohibited).

Connect the pipes to the steering gear housing.

Check the oil level in the power steering pump reservoir and, if necessary, top up with ATF Dexron D oil.

Bleed the power steering system as described above.

Check the oil level in the power steering pump reservoir again.

Make sure there are no leaks at the sealing points.
