Bottom protection and cavity preservation (Opel Kadett D)

            0

Depending on the series, the wheel cavities and the bottom are coated with a special protective PVC mastic that does not require maintenance. The areas not coated with PVC mastic are covered with a layer of wax, this layer should be renewed before the onset of cold weather or after washing the bottom. At the same time, the PVC mastic coating should also be checked, if it needs to be renewed.

Attention! Since conventional bitumen-rubber materials can have a harmful effect on the PVC layer, this work must be performed at maintenance stations.

The front wings of the OPEL KADETT are protected by additional plastic mudguards. The areas of the bottom and sills are galvanized. The sills are coated with anti-corrosion liquid and wax. If additional preservation is required, this should be done in a special workshop, since the material is applied under high pressure. After winter, it is recommended to wash the bottom to clean it from salt-rich dirt.

You should inspect the drain holes of cavities where moisture may collect (rainwater, condensation), to dry them. These openings and areas of the underbody of the car can easily become clogged when the car is in use. As a result, water can remain in the cavities. This also applies to areas near rotating parts, where dust, clay and sand can accumulate. It is especially important to remove accumulated dirt, which is still mixed with salt in winter. If the accumulated dirt is not completely removed, there is a risk that these places will not dry out either. In any case, this can lead to the progression of rust formation from the inside to the outside, which cannot be reduced by applying anti-corrosion protection.
