Replacing the parking brake cable (Opel Insignia A)

Mechanically operated parking brake



Removal



Note: To remove the parking brake lever, the automatic parking brake lever adjuster must be in the installed position.


1. Remove the front floor console.

Note: Move the lock and lock the rod with the spring.


2. Set the automatic parking brake lever adjuster to the installation position:
  • Fully release the parking brake lever.
  • Press the regulator rod (1) in the direction of the arrow.
  • Press the lock.

Press the lock.


3. While holding the rod and simultaneously pressing the lock (2), lock it in one position.

4. Disconnect the parking brake drive cables (1) from the brake caliper drive levers on both sides of the vehicle.

Note: Do not reuse the drive shaft nut. Replace the old nut with a new one.




5. Disconnect the parking brake drive cables from the balancer (2).

6. Disconnect the drive cables on both sides of the vehicle from the holders (3) on the underbody.

Installation



1. Connect the parking brake drive cables to the balancer (2).

2. Route the parking brake cables on both sides of the vehicle in the holders (3) on the underbody.

3. Connect the parking brake cables (1) to the drive levers on the brake calipers.

4. Pull the parking brake lever inside the vehicle.

Note: Once the parking brake lever inside the vehicle is raised, the automatic adjuster lock will be released and the drive cables will be adjusted automatically.


5. Install the front floor console.
