Electronic Parking Brake System Control Unit (Opel Insignia A)

1. Release the electric parking brake using the electric drive:
  • Turn the ignition to "Run" position and place your foot over the parking brake switch.
  • Press and hold the parking brake switch for five seconds until the yellow indicator light on the instrument panel lights up steadily.
  • Press the parking brake switch again for five seconds until the yellow indicator on the instrument panel starts flashing.

2. Release the electric parking brake manually:
  • Raise and secure the vehicle.
  • Remove the rear wheels from the vehicle.
  • Remove the rear mudguards.
  • Remove the rubber plug (arrow in the picture).
  • Using a 3.2 mm square rod, loosen the tension on the cable.

3. Disconnect the cable (1) from the electronic parking brake control unit.

4. Remove the two clips (2) from the parking brake control unit.

5. Unscrew the three nuts (3) of the parking brake control unit.

Note: Tightening torque: 9.5 Nm.


6. Remove the electronic parking brake control unit (4).

7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

8. After installation, program the electronic parking brake control unit using diagnostic equipment.
