Electric parking brake (J71) (Opel Insignia A)

1. Release the electric parking brake:

• Turn the ignition to "Run" position and place your foot over the parking brake switch.
• Press and hold the parking brake switch for five seconds until the yellow indicator light on the instrument panel lights up steadily.
• Press the parking brake switch again for five seconds until the yellow indicator on the instrument panel starts flashing.

2. Raise and secure the vehicle.

3. Remove the rear wheels from the vehicle.

4. Remove the rear mudguards.

5. Unscrew the cable (1) from the electronic parking brake control unit.

Note: Tightening torque: 6 Nm.

6. Remove the locking washer (2) and disconnect the parking brake cable (3).

7. Remove the two fasteners (5) and remove the parking brake drive cable guard (4).

8. Remove the parking brake cable (6).

9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
