Axle joint covers — replacement (Opel Astra G)

1. Remove the axle shaft and the joint whose boot will be changed. Remove the vibration damper on the right axle shaft, having marked its position beforehand.

2. Remove the cover and install a new one (see photo). It should be taken into account that the edge of the inner cover should be 135 mm from the end of the axle shaft on 1.4 and 1.6 l models or 128 mm on 1.8 and 2.0 l models.







3. Install the joint on the axle shaft, secure it with a new retaining ring and apply grease to the joint.



4. Secure the cover with new clamps (see photo). The clamp is secured by pressing the loop (see photo), or by tightening until the tape tooth engages with the slot.
