Clutch Master Cylinder — Replacement (Opel Zafira A)

The necessity of performing this operation should be determined during the inspection of the technical condition of the clutch (see "Clutch - checking technical condition").

Sequence of execution



1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the ABS unit (see "Brake booster - replacement").

3. Pulling towards you, disconnect the brake fluid supply pipe to the clutch master cylinder.

Warning! The connection between the tube and the cylinder is sealed with a rubber bushing, do not lose it. After disconnecting the hose, it must be lifted up and the hole must be plugged by any available means.


4. Using a thin and rigid wire, remove the retainer...

Note: The connection between the tube and the cylinder is sealed with a rubber ring. Before assembly, check the condition of this ring and replace it if damaged.


5. Remove the rod axle retainer.

6. Remove the clutch master cylinder rod axle.

7. Using a 13 mm socket wrench with an extension, unscrew the two nuts securing the clutch master cylinder.

8. Remove the clutch master cylinder by carefully pulling it out of the engine compartment.

9. Install the parts in the reverse order. When installing the clutch master cylinder, make sure that the clutch pedal lever enters the fork of the clutch master cylinder rod.

10. After assembly, bleed the clutch release hydraulic drive (see "Clutch release hydraulic drive - bleeding").
