Removing
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the ignition switch cylinder (see above).
3. Squeeze the latches and move the contact group down.
4. Through the hole, press the lock with a screwdriver (the contact group must be in the position corresponding to position I of the key in the ignition switch) and disconnect the block.
Comment. On vehicles with automatic transmission, you must also depress the key lock solenoid pad retainer.
Examination
We check the contact group for contact closure in the switch positions corresponding to different key positions in the ignition lock (see table. 14.12).
Table 14.12
Note. If the ignition key is in positions I, II and III, contacts 30 and W also close.
If any contacts do not close, the contact group is faulty and must be replaced.
Comment. The new contact group is supplied without a blocking solenoid, therefore, when replacing the contact group on vehicles with automatic transmission, it is necessary to move the solenoid from the old contact group to the new one (see below, «Ignition key lock solenoid - check and replace»).
Installation
Install the parts in reverse order.
