1. Repairing a manual transmission is a difficult task for a novice auto mechanic. 3. The tools needed for the rebuild are pliers for removing the inner and outer locking ends, bearing pullers, a sliding hammer, a set of punches, a dial micrometer and possibly a hydraulic press. In addition, a large; a sturdy workbench and a vice.
4. During transmission disassembly, carefully record the location of each component to facilitate subsequent installation.
