Rear Crossmember Fasteners — Replacement (Opel Omega B2)

Removal



1. Block the front wheels, then jack up the rear of the car and place it on axle stands. Remove both rear wheels.

2. Unhook the rubber mounting pads of the rear part of the exhaust system and lower the pipe approximately 30 cm. Tie it in this position to the body.

3. Release the brake hoses from the brackets on the diagonal arms by pulling out the locking plates.

4. Support the final drive unit with a jack.

5. On each side, unscrew three bracket bolts and the central bolt securing the rear crossmember and remove the brackets.

6. Now you need to remove the fasteners from the crossbar. This can be done using a special Opel tool (see illustration). Lower the crossbar slightly and insert the puller bolt from above, then assemble the tool as shown and, while tightening the nut, remove the fastener. Alternatively, use a metal tube, a long bolt and large washers or metal plates.
