Fuel system — bleeding (Opel Omega A)

1. The fuel system is bled if the system has been opened or if the fuel in the tank has been completely used up.

2. Check if there is fuel in the tank.

3. Remove the generator cover.

4. Turn off the ignition - the fuel supply through the shut-off valve will be interrupted.

5. Loosen the bolt at the top of the fuel filter by about 1 turn using a screwdriver (see illustration).

6. Slowly and smoothly press the hand pump button on the fuel filter until fuel comes out of the bolt locations. Then tighten the bolt (see illustration).

8. Press the hand pump again until fuel comes out from under the bolts. Then tighten the bolts.



Note: When doing this, make sure that diesel fuel does not come into contact with the coolant hoses. If necessary, clean the hoses immediately. Damaged hoses should be replaced.


9. Start the engine. If the engine does not start because an air lock has formed in the injection channels, loosen the union nuts of injector 1 or 4 (see illustration) and turn on the starter until fuel comes out. Then tighten the nuts again and turn on the engine. If necessary, repeat the bleeding using a hand pump.
