Transmission (Opel Omega A)

Transmission

Transmission

- neutral position.
1-5 - from 1st to 5th gear.
R - reverse.
Reverse gear "R" is engaged only when the vehicle is stopped, a few seconds after the clutch is depressed - the locking ring indicated by the arrow must be raised up.

Shifting from 4th to 5th gear is done by continuously moving the lever to the right. When shifting to lower gears, reduce engine speed, and from 5th to 4th, do not apply excessive lateral force to the left, so as not to engage 2nd gear.

  • R - parking
  • R - reverse
  • N - neutral position
  • D - position during movement
  • 2 - 1st and 2nd gears

The engine can only be started from position P or N.

To shift to position P or R, first pull the locking handle up.

  • R: Pre-apply the parking brake
  • R: turns on only after a complete stop
  • D: 1-4 gears
  • D3: 1-3 gears, press the button
  • D: 1-4 gears, press the button again

  • 1: For driving in extremely difficult road conditions in 1st gear

Safety device against accidental engagement of positions P, R, 2nd or 1st gear

Safety device against accidental engagement of positions P, R, 2nd or 1st gear

It is activated by lifting the locking handle under the gear selector lever.
  • 2: to the first position
  • R: to the second position
  • P, 1: to the third position until it stops

When the gear selector lever is set to any of the positions 1 to N or R to D, the locking handle is not engaged.

Before starting to move the vehicle, check:
  • the condition of the tires and the air pressure in them,
  • are the doors locked with locking buttons from the inside? (in the event of an accident, it makes it easier for rescuers to enter the car),
  • are there any objects on the shelf between the back of the rear seat and the rear window (they are reflected in the window, block the rear view, and when braking sharply, they move by inertia to the front of the cabin),
  • whether the electric windows, mirrors, and headlights are working and whether they are cleaned of dirt,
  • are the rear view mirrors adjusted correctly?,
  • serviceability of brakes.
