The battery does not hold a charge for more than a few days


  • The battery is internally faulty
  • Battery terminals are loose or corroded
  • Auxiliary drive belt is worn or incorrectly adjusted
  • The generator does not produce the required current
  • The generator or voltage regulator is faulty
  • Short circuit causing battery to drain continuously

The ignition on/battery discharge indicator light comes on while driving


  • The auxiliary drive belt is damaged, worn or improperly adjusted
  • Generator brushes are worn, jammed or dirty
  • Weak or damaged generator brush springs
  • Internal damage in the generator or voltage regulator
  • The wiring in the charging circuit is damaged or open.
