Extra precautions must be taken when working on an electrical system to avoid damage to semiconductor devices (diodes and transistors) and avoid the risk of electric shock. Observe the following additional requirements when working with the system.
1. Always remove rings, watches, etc. before working on the electrical system. Even with the battery disconnected, capacitive discharge can occur if the live terminal is grounded through a metal object. This can cause a shock.
2. Do not mix up the battery connections. System components such as the generator or any other semiconductor devices may be damaged.
3. Never disconnect battery terminals or generator wiring connections while the engine is running.
4. Before carrying out any electric welding on a vehicle, it is also necessary to disconnect the generator.
