Additional precautions must be taken when working on the electrical system to avoid damaging semiconductor devices (diodes and transistors) and avoid the risk of electric shock. Observe the following additional requirements when working with the system.
1. Always remove rings, watches, etc. before working on the electrical system. Even with the battery disconnected, capacitive discharge may occur if the live terminal is grounded through a metal object. This may cause shock.
2. Do not reverse the battery connections. System components such as a generator or any other containing semiconductor devices may be damaged.
3. Never disconnect the battery terminals or generator wiring connections while the engine is running.
4. Before carrying out any electric welding on the vehicle, it is also necessary to disconnect the generator.
