- Remove the decorative engine cover.
- Remove the air filter outlet duct.
- Remove the cylinder head cover.
- Disconnect the turbocharger cooling pressure pipe.
- Unscrew the drive chain tensioner (1) from the cylinder head.
2. Remove the upper drive chain guide.
3. Turn the crankshaft balancer pulley so that the mark (1) matched the mark on the oil pump housing (2).
4. Remove the exhaust camshaft shifter.
5. If the chain adjustment is not correct, remove the drive chain from the intake phase shifter (1) and rotate the intake camshaft counterclockwise until it is secured with tool EN-49212-2 (2).
6. Install the drive chain on the intake camshaft phase shifter.
7. Install the exhaust camshaft phase shifter:
- Count the number of drive chain links between the marks on the intake and exhaust camshaft sprockets. To ensure proper alignment between the sprocket marks, the drive chain must have 29 links.
Note. When installing, the drive chain must be tensioned. Turn the camshaft clockwise to set the drive sprocket to the desired position.
- Install the exhaust camshaft drive sprocket and secure with the holder in the camshaft.
8. Fix the exhaust camshaft using the EN-49212-1 tool.
9. Again check the correct installation of the drive chain on all labels.
10. Tighten the intake camshaft phase shifter bolt to 30 Nm and then tighten it another 100°.
11. Tighten the bolt of the exhaust camshaft shifter to 30 Nm and then tighten it another 100°.
12. Remove the EN-49212 camshaft retainers.
13. Install the upper drive chain guide.
14. Install the drive chain tensioner:
- Using the special tool, remove the circlip from the tensioner housing.
- Remove the ratchet cylinder from the tensioner housing.
- Place the EN-45027-2 tool on the vise and rotate the ratchet cylinder using the EN-45027-1 tool clockwise until it stops.
- Install the ratchet cylinder and circlip into the tensioner housing.
- Install timing chain tensioner with new gasket and tighten to 75 Nm.
- Move the drive chain tensioner shoe away from the tensioner to verify that the chain tensioner is functioning.
15. Rotate the crankshaft two turns and recheck the tension and correct installation of the drive chain.
