Front Wheel Hub — Replacement (Opel Zafira A)

The front wheel hub assembly with the journal, bearing and ABS sensor is a non-separable unit. In case of failure of the bearing or other element of the unit, it is necessary to replace the hub assembly.

To complete the work you will need:
  • jack;
  • reliable car stand;
  • wheel chocks.

Sequence of execution

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Unscrew the hub nut and remove the washer (see "Front Wheel Drive - Removal and Installation").

3. Disconnect the ABS wiring harness connector.

4. Remove the shoe from the bracket by pulling it upwards.

5. Remove the brake disc (see "Front brake discs - replacement").

6. Press out the steering rod end joint pin from the steering knuckle (see "Tie Rod End - Replacement").



7. Press out the ball joint pin from the steering knuckle (see "Ball joint - replacement").

8. Unscrew the nuts and remove the bolts securing the steering knuckle to the front suspension strut (see "Front suspension strut - removal and installation").

9. Remove the steering knuckle, extracting the outer drive joint tailpiece from it.

10. Secure the steering knuckle in a vice and use a TORX E18 head to unscrew the three hub mounting bolts.

11. Remove the hub assembly from the steering knuckle.

12. Install the parts in reverse order.
