Rear wheel hub — replacement (Opel Zafira A)

The rear wheel hub assembly with the journal and bearing is a non-separable unit. In case of failure of the bearing or other element of the unit, it is necessary to replace the hub assembly.

To complete the work you will need:
  • jack;
  • reliable stand for the car.

Sequence of execution



1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the wheel (see "Wheel - replacement").

3. Disconnect the ABS wiring harness connector from the wheel speed sensor.

4. Remove the brake drum (see "Rear brake drums - replacement") or brake disc (see "Rear brake discs - replacement").

5. Using a 16 mm socket wrench, unscrew the four hub mounting nuts.

6. Remove the hub assembly...

...and on cars with rear drum brakes, we secure the brake shield with the pads in the hub mounting hole with a bolt.

7. Install the parts in the reverse order. Tighten the hub mounting nuts to the specified torque (see "Reference data").
