Rear brake discs of the rear disc brake mechanism — replacement (Opel Zafira A)

The necessity of performing this operation should be determined during the process of checking the technical condition of the brake system (see "Brake system - checking technical condition").

Warning! We replace brake discs on both sides of the car.


Recommendation: We strongly recommend replacing the brake pads when replacing the brake discs.


Sequence of execution



1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the caliper from the brake disc without disconnecting the brake hose from it (see "Rear brake pads - replacement").

3. Fix the caliper so as not to put stress on the brake hose.

4. Using a TORX E18 key, unscrew the two bolts securing the caliper bracket and remove it.

5. Using an impact Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the brake disc mounting screw.

6. Tap the brake disc with a hammer.

Warning! Do not strike the working surface of the disc with a hammer!


7. Tighten the wheel bolt for safety.

8. Remove the brake disc by tapping it with a hammer through a wooden spacer.

9. Clean the seat of the disk on the hub from dirt and rust, lubricate it with a thin layer of plastic grease.

10. Next, install all removed parts in reverse order.
