Replacing the rear (wheel) cable on a vehicle with rear drum brakes (Opel Zafira A)

Note: The operation is shown using the example of replacing the left rear cable. Replacing the right cable is performed in a similar manner.


1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Loosen the adjusting nut (see "Parking brake - adjustment").

3. Remove the rear wheel (see "Wheel - replacement").

4. Remove the brake pads and disconnect the parking brake system drive cable from the brake shoe lever (see "Rear brake pads - replacement").

5. Use pliers to remove the locking clip.

6. Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the rear cable tip from the connector.

7. Pull the rear cable forward from the brake shield and remove it.
