Electric Fan Booster Resistor — Checking and Replacing (Opel Zafira A)

            0

The need to perform this operation must be determined during the inspection of the technical condition of the air conditioning system (see "Air conditioning system - technical condition check").

Note: The work is shown on the Astra model.

Sequence of execution

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the glove compartment and the air conditioning filter cover (see "Astra Air Conditioning Filter - Replacement").

3. Disconnect the two wires of the electric fan from the resistor.

3. Disconnect the two wires of the electric fan from the resistor.

4. Pulling upwards, remove the resistor from the mounting bracket.

5. Press the lock to disconnect the wiring harness connector from the resistor.

5. Press the lock to disconnect the wiring harness connector from the resistor.

6. Using a multimeter in ohmmeter mode, check for resistance in the contact pairs. Infinite resistance (chain break) between any contacts indicates the need to replace the additional resistor. The closure of contact pairs occurs in the following order:

  • 4th speed - contacts 7 and 6, resistance is minimal;
  • 3rd speed - contacts 7 and 4, resistance increases;
  • 2nd speed - contacts 7 and 3, resistance increases;
  • 1st speed - contacts 7 and 5, resistance increases.

1st speed - contacts 7 and 5, resistance increases.

7. Install the parts in reverse order.
