Before repairing the engine, it is necessary to remove the following:
- intake and exhaust manifolds;
- bracket for air conditioning compressor, power steering pump and alternator;
- cooling system pump;
- fuel system components;
- wiring harness, all electrical switches and sensors;
- oil filter;
- flywheel.
If it is necessary to repair only the cylinder block, crankshaft, pistons and connecting rods, it is necessary to remove the cylinder head, oil pan, oil pump and toothed drive belt or chain.
If a complete overhaul is required, the following must be removed from the engine:
- intake and exhaust manifolds;
- cylinder head;
- flywheel;
- oil pan;
- oil pump;
- chains and sprockets;
- pistons with connecting rods;
- crankshaft.
