The subsection provides a general vehicle maintenance plan, followed by subsections that describe the maintenance operations in more detail.
Carrying out maintenance in accordance with the given maintenance plan will ensure a long and reliable service of the vehicle. This maintenance plan is complete, so it is recommended that all specified maintenance operations be carried out at the specified times.
When servicing a car, you will notice that some operations are best combined with other operations, as this follows from the nature of the maintenance operations themselves, and certain elements are located nearby. For example, if you raised the car for any operation, then the elements of the exhaust system can be checked at the same time as checking the suspension or steering elements.
Before starting work, it is necessary to prepare for maintenance. Read the entire description of the operation you are about to perform and purchase the necessary tools and spare parts. If you encounter a serious problem, contact the experts.
By strictly following the vehicle maintenance plan from the beginning, regularly checking the levels of the various fluids in the vehicle and the wear of the wear parts as instructed in this manual, the engine will be in good working order and there will be little or no need for additional repairs.
It often happens that the engine runs poorly due to irregular maintenance. This is especially true for used cars that have been neglected. In this case, additional repair work is necessary.
If you think the engine is worn, check compression or check for leaks (see subsection 2.1.4.4 and subsection 3.6.4) will provide valuable information regarding the general condition of most internal engine components. Such a check is the basis for deciding how much work is needed to restore the engine. If, for example, a compression test or a leak test reveals that the engine's internal components are badly worn, then performing the normal maintenance operations described in this subsection will not significantly improve engine performance and will only be a waste of time and money unless first do not overhaul the engine.
The following is a list of operations that must be carried out in order to improve engine performance:
Primary operations:
- clean, check and test the battery;
- check the condition and level of engine oil and coolant;
- check the condition and tension of the auxiliary drive belt (see subsection 2.2.4.1);
- check the air filter and replace it if necessary;
- replace the fuel filter;
- check the condition of all hoses and check them for tightness.
If the above operations are not effective enough, perform auxiliary operations - all primary operations, plus the following operations:.
- check the battery charging system;
- check the preheating system;
- check the power system.
