Air filter element

The air filter is located in the front right corner of the engine compartment.

Replacement

1. Release the retaining clips and lift the air cleaner cover just enough to allow the filter element to be removed.

2. Remove the filter element.

3. Wipe the housing and cover. Install the new filter element, remembering that the rubber gasket on the filter element should face up, and secure the cover with clamps.

Fuel filter

Warning: Before working on the fuel filter, wipe off the area around the filter and the filter itself; make sure that dirt and foreign particles do not enter the fuel system. Prepare a suitable container to drain the fuel from the fuel filter and place a rag around the filter to collect any leaked fuel. Make sure that diesel fuel does not come into contact with components such as the generator and starter, cooling system hoses and engine mounts, or wires.

Replacement

1. Drain the fuel from the fuel filter following the instructions provided in subsection 2.2.3.2.

2. Place rags around the fuel filter, then unscrew the filter and remove it from the housing. If the filter is tightly screwed on, you can unscrew it with an oil filter removal tool.

3. Wipe up any spilled fuel and remove the O-rings from the old oil filter/filter housing (depending on what is needed).

4. Make sure the surface of the fuel filter housing is clean, then install new O-rings on top of the new filter element.

5. Lubricate the new O-rings with a small amount of fuel and screw the new filter into the housing, tightening it by hand at first.

6. Bleed the fuel system, then start the engine and check the filter for leaks.

Checking and adjusting valve clearances

Check and, if necessary, adjust the valve clearances using the instructions provided in subsection 3.5.19.2.
