Excessive fuel consumption

• The air filter element is dirty or clogged
• The choke mechanism is not adjusted correctly or the choke is stuck - petrol models with carburetor
• Damage to the fuel injection system - petrol models with fuel injection
• Injector faulty - diesel models
• Incorrect ignition timing/damage to ignition system - petrol models
• Tire pressure is insufficient

Fuel leak and/or fuel smell

• Fuel tank, pipes or connections are damaged or corroded

Excessive noise or fumes from the exhaust system

• Exhaust system or manifold connections are leaking gas
• Leaking, corroded or damaged mufflers or exhaust pipes
• Damaged fasteners allowing the system to come into contact with the body or suspension
