1 - Upper steering column trim; 2 - Lock cylinder; 3 - Ignition switch housing; 4 - Steering gear housing; 5 - Steering gear thrust pipe; 6 - Bullet control shaft; 7 - Lower steering column trim

The main parts of the steering system are the safety steering column with the steering wheel and the steering gear with both steering rods. The backlash-free steering mechanism with a toothed rack does not require special care, but attention should be paid to the impeccability of the protective covers. Work on the steering column, such as its replacement or repair, must be carried out in specialized OPEL workshops.
