Note: If the ECM is removed for replacement, first read the fault codes from the processor memory (if available).
1. The procedure for removing the electronic module of the gasoline engine control system is given in the description of the procedures for removing the gasoline engine injection injectors (see Chapter 4, Section 15). The module is usually mounted on top of the engine; to remove it, you need to disconnect the electrical wiring connectors and unscrew the mounting bolts (see illustrations 15.5 and 15.6 in Chapter 4).
2. There is no detailed information on the procedure for removing the engine control module of diesel models. However, it is not particularly difficult - you need to determine the location of the module, determine the method and elements of its fastening and, having disconnected the electrical wiring, remove the module.
3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. If a new ECM is installed, it must be programmed using a diagnostic tool (see Section 3).
