Note: If the ECM is removed to replace it, first read the trouble codes from the processor memory (if available).
1. To remove the electronic module of the gasoline engine control system, see the description of the procedures for removing the gasoline injection injectors (see Chapter 4, Section 15). The module, as a rule, is mounted on top of the engine; to remove it, it is necessary to disconnect the wiring connectors and unscrew the mounting bolts (see illustrations 15.5 and 15.6 of Chapter 4).
2. Detailed information on the procedure for removing the engine control module of diesel models is not available. However, it is not particularly difficult - it is necessary to establish the location of the module, determine the method and elements of its fastening and, having disconnected the electrical wiring, remove the module.
3. Installation is made in the reverse order of removal. If a new ECM is installed, it must be programmed using a scan tool (see Section 3).
