Warning! The negative ground electrical system has an operating voltage of 12 volts. Power for the electrical system comes from a lead-acid battery, which is recharged by the generator.
This Chapter describes the repair and maintenance operations for various components of the vehicle's electrical equipment that are not related to the engine.
It should be noted that when working with any element of the vehicle's electrical equipment, the negative battery terminal wire must be disconnected to prevent short circuits and/or fire.
Check the placement and fastening of the wires at regular intervals, making sure that the wires do not rub against other elements. If you find that any wires are rubbing against other elements, move the wires to the side and secure them so that this does not happen again.
Electrical equipment is designed to be powered by the positive pole of a 12 V battery, the negative pole is connected to the ground. When working with any element of electrical equipment, disconnect the battery from the ground. On some vehicles, this should be done after making sure that you know the decoding code for the radio.
Precautions: If the radio/stereo installed in your vehicle has a theft deterrent coding system, read the information at the beginning of this manual before disconnecting the battery.
