Engine oil and filter



Regular oil and oil filter changes are one of the most important operations for extending the life of your vehicle.

1. Warm up the engine. Remove the filler cap. Unscrew the drain plug about half a turn. Install a container to collect the oil and completely unscrew the plug.

2. Allow the oil to drain, moving the container if necessary.

3. Wipe the plug clean and replace the sealing washer if necessary. Wipe the area around the drain hole and tighten the plug to the specified torque.

4. Place an oil collection container under the oil filter.

5. Using an oil filter removal tool, if necessary, loosen the filter and remove it by hand (the figure shows the location of the oil filter on a 2.0L engine).

6. Clean the filter installation area. Lubricate the new filter O-ring with oil and install it on the engine. Screw the filter securely by hand.

7. Unscrew the filler cap and fill with the required type of oil.

8. Start the engine and check for oil leaks around the oil filter and drain plug.
