Fuses and relays — general description (Opel Omega A)

            1

1. The electrical circuits of the car are protected by fuses; most fuses are located in the fuse/relay box located under the trim panel to the right of the steering column (photo). Unclip the trim panel and pull out the fuse box. The relays are located on and behind the fuse box. On some models, an additional relay box is located in the left rear corner of the engine compartment (photo).

2. The purpose of the fuses is given in the Specifications. Similar information is contained on the back of the fuse box cover.

3. The fuse puller and spare fuses are located in the lower right corner of the unit.

4. When replacing a fuse, first de-energize the circuit. If the new fuses immediately blow when the ignition is turned on, find and eliminate the cause. The most common cause of a blown fuse is a short circuit with the ground loop.

5. If a blown fuse protects more than one circuit, the faulty circuit can be determined by eliminating each component from the circuit in turn.

6. Never use foil or wire instead of a fuse, and never install a fuse with a higher rating than specified in the Specification. This can cause serious damage.
