Lifting a car with a jack (Opel Kadett D)

            0

To perform many preventive and repair work, the car must be lifted. In workshops, this is usually done with a platform lift, but you can also lift the car with a jack. The car can only be lifted with a jack at the points shown in the figure.

When working under a vehicle, if it is not on a platform, it must be placed on 4 stable support trestles. Never work under a vehicle if it is not securely installed and may fall.

The jack for lifting the car can only be installed at the points indicated in the figure, otherwise deformation of the body cannot be ruled out.

Rubber or wooden pads that can be used when lifting a car help prevent damage to the body.

Wheels that remain standing on the ground when lifted should be secured with wedges to prevent possible rotation. Do not rely on the handbrake, as it may come loose during some repair work

Raise the vehicle only on a level, hard surface.

Note: If the vehicle needs to be lifted on soft ground, place a wide board under the jack to distribute the weight over a larger area.
