Replacing the steering gear pipes (Opel Insignia A)

1. Place a tray under the vehicle to collect the fluid.

2. Remove as much working fluid as possible from the power steering expansion tank.

3. Raise and secure the vehicle.

4. Versions with engines other than naturally aspirated four-cylinder: remove the steering gear from the vehicle.

5. Loosen the bolt (1) securing the steering gear pipes.

Note: Tightening torque: 12 Nm.

6. Remove the pipe retainer (2).

7. Disconnect and remove the steering gear pipes (3).

Note: Tightening torque: 19 Nm.


8. Remove and discard the four seals (4) from the steering gear pipes.

Note: Do not reuse pipe seals.


9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
  • Fill the power steering reservoir with working fluid and bleed the system.
  • Remove excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
