Hood lock — replacement and adjustment (Opel Zafira A)

The hood lock consists of a locking spring installed in the frame of the front panel shield and a guide latch installed on the hood. The locking spring holds the hood in the closed position, and the latch is responsible for the height of the hood and for its opening.

Replacing the spring

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Use pliers to remove the spring from engagement with the body.



3. Disconnect the drive cable tip from the lock spring (the tip disconnection is shown on the removed lock spring).



...and remove the lock spring.



4. Install the parts in reverse order.

Replacing and adjusting the hood lock retainer

1. Using a 36 mm wrench, loosen the lock nut of the hood lock retainer.



2. Using a 19 mm wrench, unscrew the hood retainer.

Recommendation: Lubricate the lock mechanism with lithium grease.

3. We install the retainer so that its height is from 40 to 50 mm and achieve the easiest and clearest closing of the hood by rotating the retainer with a 19 mm key.



4. After completing the adjustment, tighten the lock nut of the hood lock retainer, holding the retainer from turning.
