Replacing the dashboard strut (Opel Insignia A)

1. Remove the instrument panel assembly.

2. Remove the door sill trims from the front and rear doors on both sides of the vehicle.

3. Remove the steering column.

4. Remove the body control unit bracket.

5. Loosen the ten bolts (1) securing the instrument panel strut.

Note: Tightening torque: 22 Nm.


Note: Tightening torque: 22 Nm.


6. Unscrew the three nuts (2) securing the climate control unit. Disconnect the climate control unit from the dashboard strut and secure it to the vehicle body.

Note: Tightening torque: 5 Nm.


7. Remove the hood release lever.

8. Mark the location and routing of the instrument cluster wiring harness for proper installation later.

9. Disconnect the wiring harness from the instrument panel brace.

10. With the help of an assistant, remove the instrument panel brace (3) from the vehicle.

Note: If the instrument panel strut is to be replaced, transfer all necessary components to the new part.


11. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
