Main muffler — replacement (Opel Zafira A)

The need to perform this operation is determined during the inspection of the technical condition of the exhaust system (see above, "Exhaust system - technical condition check").

To perform the operation you will need new muffler mounting bolts.

Sequence of execution

1. Place the vehicle on an inspection ditch or overpass (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Using a wire brush, clean the main muffler mounting bolts from dirt and loose rust and treat them with penetrating lubricant.

3. Using a 15 mm wrench, unscrew the two mounting bolts.



4. Disconnect two rear and one front suspension cushion (see "Exhaust system suspension cushions - replacement"), remove the muffler.

5. Remove the gasket between the main and second intermediate mufflers. When assembling, it must be replaced with a new one.
