Recommended fluids and oils
Use only tested and approved products. The use of untested fluids and oils may cause damage not covered by the warranty.
Attention. These substances are dangerous and can be poisonous. Handle them with care. Read the information on the packages.
Engine oil
Motor oils are designated by quality and viscosity indicators. However, when choosing engine oil, keep in mind that quality is more important than viscosity. The quality of the oil ensures, for example, engine cleanliness, wear protection and control of oil aging, while the viscosity determines the thickness of the oil over a certain temperature range. The new Dexos 2 TM engine oil is a modern high-quality oil with universal characteristics used for gasoline and diesel engines. If it is not available, the indicated engine oils of a different quality can be used.
Engine oil quality for European maintenance intervals
Oils used instead of Dexos 2 TM, if this oil is not available
Engine oil quality for international service intervals
Oils used instead of Dexos 2 TM, if this oil is not available
Oils to replace GMLL-A-025 or GM-LL-B-025 if these two oils are not available
Topping up engine oil
If engine oils from different manufacturers and brands meet the quality and viscosity requirements established for engine oil, they can be mixed. If an engine oil of the required quality is not available, a maximum of one liter of ACEA C3 oil can be used (no more than once per oil change). Viscosity should be selected from the following viscosity grades. Do not use only ACEA A1/B1 or A5/B5 quality engine oil as this can cause severe engine damage under certain operating conditions.
Additional engine oil additives
The use of additional engine oil additives can damage the engine and void the warranty.
Engine oil viscosity grades
Use engine oils only with viscosity grades SAE 5W-30 or 5W-40, 0W-30 or 0W-40.
The SAE viscosity grade indicates the thickness of the oil.
Universal oil is designated by two codes. First numeric code followed by a letter «W», indicates the viscosity at low temperature, and the second numeric code indicates the viscosity at high temperature. Select the appropriate viscosity grade depending on the minimum ambient temperature:
- down to -25°C: SAE 5W-30 or SAE 5W-40.
- below -25°C: SAE 0W-30 or SAE 0W-40.
